Quality control from planting through harvesting.
Sebastian Harvesting provides year-round custom harvesting services for organically and conventionally grown row crops including romaine, red and green leaf lettuce, broccoli, celery, chard, collards, beets, spinach, kale, cilantro, carrots, bell peppers, snap peas, radishes and a variety of herbs.
Sebastian employs experienced harvest supervisors who are knowledgeable on all Braga Ranch and A.S.A. Organics commodities and work to maximize harvest efficiencies. They are quality control experts and “work the fields” to ensure maximum crop yields. They coordinate and communicate accurate harvest forecasts to ensure a consistent supply, which is crucial for the sales operation to meet their objectives. Supervisors and crews are knowledgeable and trained with all equipment to ensure safety of employees and comply with food safety guidelines.
Harvest supervisors are trained and empowered to make responsible, safe decisions. Supervisors complete Pre-Harvest Field Assessments as required by the California Leafy Green Products Handler Marketing Agreement (LGMA) to ensure compliance.
Harvest supervisors also attend weekly “tailgate” meetings (training in the fields) on a variety of safety and food safety topics with AL PAK LABOR employees. They abide by NOP (National Organic Program) protocols when harvesting organic products and are audited by Primus GFS, a third-party auditor.
Crews are self-audited frequently and consistently throughout each season for food safety/employee safety compliance.
